So...last night when I should have been heading to bed early, I found myself checking Google Maps for the address Frank gave me for the gas station in Ankeny Iowa where he wanted to gas up prior to heading to Zombie Burger and Shake Lab (one of four in the greater Des Moines area —Dan found out about it on FaceBook from one of the Crypticon organizers.) Then I checked the simple route from gas station to Zombie Burger, and for the heck of it plunked the little yellow map guy (who I have now learned is called by many “Pegman”) down in front of ZB to see what the place looked like from the street. When I pressed the arrow at top to get out of street view it quickly went through this rather psychedelic process to get back to the satellite view. So naturally I spent even more time going back and forth between the two and taking shots with the iPod in bursts trying to capture it.
This morning I took an image I got online of Pegman and erased the white background while Frank drove. Then I added him to the shots so I could make this silly collage in the Ribbet app.
While the map to street view process isn’t as spectacular, I’m putting some of those together too, but may have to wait to finish it due to limitations on what I have access to do on the hotel computer and the the Ribbet iPod/iPad app not having the effect I want to use.
I'm impressed by the lengths that some 365ers go to for their daily image - this is a great example. I just wait until I spot something during the day that I think might make a reasonable image and snap it!
