My initial get pushed challenge from Felicity @fbailey was to use my camera on Manual, but since I've often had it on Manual (admittedly with a large learning curve) she agreed to let me experiment with Aperture Priority and/or Shutter Priority, which I have hardly touched. I didn't use my camera as often this week as I might have. When I did, though, I was trying out the Aperture Priority function. The photos I'm posting don't obviously demonstrate anything. You'll have to take my word for the fact that it was very instructive to watch the camera adjust the shutter speed as I adjusted the other elements. Even more interesting was to see the immediate and sometimes large automatic adjustments as I aimed the camera different directions -- into a bush (as in this shot), at the wall behind or the sidewalk running beside it, to the south, to the east, etc. Small changes to the angle of shot when I was taking photos of glass objects on the shelves in my window made big differences to what it gave me for shutter speed -- often way slower than I really should be doing without tripod, forcing me to up the ISO several notches.
@fbailey One of four I'm posting for you. Sorry to be doing it all at the very end of Sunday. I was watching the Academy Awards when I should have been posting my pictures.
Sorry for not responding earlier, had to dash out. This was so very interesting for me as I've hardly delved into Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority - must try these out sometime. Glad you found it interesting.
