Through a (partially open) lens

Downtown this a.m. I parked to pick up prescriptions Frank had waiting at the drugstore. I almost forgot to go across the street to the drugstore. I like the array of musical instruments displayed in the window of the music store. I've photographed them before and thought they might be a subject for my get pushed challenge of double exposure. So I pulled out my camera and turned it on. WTF? I couldn't understand what the heck I was looking at. It was pointed down at my feet, but all I was seeing was black with a streak of light. No matter where I pointed it, that's all I saw. I finally turned it around and saw that the fan-like metal pieces that cover the lens and open when you turn it on, weren't open - except for a little slit. I turned it on and off several times, gently "encouraged" it to open, but no dice. So I decided OK -- I got lemons. Let's make lemonade. So I took little slits worth of musical instruments - some more zoomed in than others. Eventually, though I was a bit afraid of damaging it, I encouraged it just a bit more and, Presto! It opened! But I didn't delete all the little glimpses. Here, for your viewing pleasure, is a collage of layered bits. Enjoy whatever you can see!
lead to a very good composite photo, but I hope you can fix it

Thanks, Harry. It seems to be working OK now. I hope it doesn't get stuck again. @hjbenson

Absolutely fantastic, Mary. Especially since you didn't intend to do it. It looks exquisite on black and truly very artful
