A bit of a tailback

Heading for Edinburgh with Susannah via the newly opened Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route......on a very 'sun in your eyes' morning.....and a lorry hadn't noticed a big roundabout!
OOPS! Several miles of stationary traffic.........
Anyway, there are worse episodes and no one was hurt.
Safely booked in to a very nice Airbnb in Stockbridge for our overnight stay
Three good things
1. Susannah catching up with colleagues
2. A lovely meal at Hamilton's round the corner.
3. Airport drop off in the morning as she heads back to Amsterdam.
Oh, Susannah.......! Something to photograph while waiting.

A lovely last few hours with her....better than just dropping her off. The sun low in the sky is not good!

Lovely to spend time in the car visiting when the traffic stacks up.

Oh dear. Was the accident on the new bit of road then? I still haven't been on it, but I understand the issue of the low sun. On the Lecht road this morning it was blinding me in the mirrors from behind and then in my eyes on the way home. It's still nice to see it though!

@happypat yes Pat it was lovely to take her down and she caught up with some colleagues while we went for a wander...Allan stayed up the street from our Airbnb when he worked in Edinburgh for several years. Nice places to eat. And then lots of laughs when she arrived back. Dropped her off at Airport and she was in Amsterdam before we got home 😄😄

@jamibann yes Issi, a lorry going up the hill at the Cleanhill Roundabout....sun low and it didn't see the roundabout and went straight across the verge and grass and stuck! Took some time to clear of course, but no one hurt so that was good. Coming home on Friday all was clear and the new road is very efficient and rather lovely views in places.

@sarah19 Oopsie! Our son will use the new road tomorrow as he goes to pick up girlfriend (2nd visit!) from the airport. It'll take a fair bit off our drive to the airport, I think.

@jamibann it's amazing how time is reduced with new road. What took 45 minutes now takes 15 for some local journeys. Lovely to have extra friends at this time of the year. Enjoy!

We had a terrible sun-in-your-eyes trip to the airport on our way to Florida for Christmas. It was the worst part of the whole week, and that includes 4 flights. It’s amazing there aren’t more accidents as a result.
