I was going to call it, "The Gorge on Fire" but then remembered that the south side was literally and horribly and seriously on fire just last month. Multnomah Falls - the lodge, the restaurant, the trail, the gift shop, the coffee stand, the famous bridge where everyone takes their visiting friends and relatives and which you've seen many times here on 365, is closed "for the foreseeable future". The fire came within five miles of my home and was, for a week or so, the most serious fire in the country. It's sparked (ugh there I go again) a lot of important discussion about controlled burning, protecting the Bull Run watershed which supplies all the water for Portland, and what should be the consequences for the teens who stupidly but unintentionally started it by setting off firecrackers in the dry forest. The fire did jump the river (the embers were carried up to 2 miles by the wind), but not here.
Glad you were safe, didn't realize you were that close to the fire!!
