Unfortunately, this is the most common way that I see these birds eating, which means it's REALLY hard to get any good lighting on their eye for photographs.

Aperture Priority mode. 55-200 lens. Despite the information provided by the camera, this was taken today, January 24th at 4 something in the p.m. not a.m.
