Inverted Primaries

My word for today from http://fatmumslim.com.au/photo-a-day-challenge-january-2016/ is water.

This is a technique I've done once or twice before here since learning about it in 2011 from a former 365 member. I used a white sheet of paper for the background and under the glass. Filled with water, red and blue food coloring were dropped into the glass. Editing consisted of the Invert effect via Ribbet.

My original idea was to photograph ice cubes that had Nerd candies from into them, but those ended up looking horrible, so.

Manual mode with 18-55 lens.
it creates interesting shapes, thanks for the explanation so we all can try it

Thanks for the background for the setup. The effect is really eye-catching and dramatic.

These remind me of some kind of weird but beautiful jellyfish, Melissa. Lovely and mysterious.

@hjbenson
Thanks Harry! I usually find the red coloring to be my favorite as it looks like fire but in this shot I'm really drawn to the shadow on the left of the cup. Go figure.
