Water Play

I want honest comments today please!! Not sure if this is any good or not, but have been inspired by others to give it a go! I used a nurofen syringe for the drops, the background is from my scrapbooking stash. It was a lot harder than it looks, and any tips very welcome!

I think it's pretty good. I like the white dots in contrast with the red background. But if you want something constructive too I woud say the picture looks noisy although that isn't a problem to me. And I guess we must put the blame on the camera :P, that always happens to me, my camera takes very noisy pictures in high ISO, while others don't show all that noise. But I do like the picture, I think it's pretty! :)

Thanks for that, I agree it is noisy and only cropped slightly too! I ended up using my little p&s rather than the dslr as i din't have enough hands!

I want to try this too! I like the way the spots get clearer in the drop .. Will have to have a play at the weekend I think!

Looks cool - I've never done one - but I agree maybe cropping out more of the syringe would be better.

@judithg Thanks for the idea, I wonder what other people use, my taps aren't pretty enough!!

I think a lot of people use glycerol so that the drops hang for longer. That's my top tip - I've only got as far as buying the glycerol!

@judithg Just did a quick google of glycerol, as I have no idea wht it is, and the first thing that caught my eye was to do with suppositories! Where do you get it from, and I don't want that form!! and how do you use it?

@melaniesavage :0) You can buy it in the baking section of supermarkets in little Supercook bottles!! I think you add it to icing sugar. It's just a viscous liquid so the drops hold on for longer.

Ohhhh, I love polka dots. And because I love them so much that I don't want to miss a possible other shot, I'm a new follower =)

I love the polka dots! I'd try a little more cropping, but this is a great job!

Great shot maybe larger f stop to get whole droplet in focus but I don't know what the lighting was like - I love it as it is though

@ericaw Thanks for the advice, I was using my little point and shoot in this one so couldn't change anything too much, I had it on the macro setting as nothing else worked! The next picture is with my canon and is a definiete improvement although not perfect!

I use the tap for my water droplet shots. You don't have to even show the tap if you don't want to. I'm no expert but the way I do it is always use the flash, have the water running and use the fastest shutter speed you can. This is a good attempt but to get a shot without as much noise you need to lower the ISO right down. Good luck, you will become addicted :o) xx
