Ah, the subjects I get stuck on shooting. I guess I got into shooting pay phones when people outside the city mentioned how uncommon they are now. Of course when I saw this one placed upside down, I had to get a shot.
come to think of it, I haven't seen one in a long time...bygone era I think. There must be a pile of these somewhere. 5 cent phones...10 cent phones...25 cent phones...I vaguely remember a 5 cent phone but mostly they were 10 cents when I was a kid.
I found the booth that used to store the pay phone at Zips, but it was too cramped for a good photo. This is awesome...
I used the most amazing pay phone in Bennington Maine. It was outside, and I had to stand on a crate to use it...it was really high up and it had a crank on the side...no lie! It had the mouthpiece on the body of the phone and the earpiece on the end of the cord. I had to go inside of the general store and ask someone how to use it. Of course this was before my crazy need to photograph everything, so I did not get a photo of it.
LOL!
