The Old Eyre Highway_DSC5176

Today, we camped at the Nullarbor Roadhouse. This gravel road, runs parallel to the Eyre Highway. This is what the Highway was like before it was sealed in 1976. Travelling across the continent on a sealed road is much more pleasant than this would have been.
I can't remember what Merrelyn, but at dawn you can see some rare bird her on the verges of this road near the Roadhouse. not very useful information... nice shot!

We stayed at the Nullabor roadhouse also. I guess just about everyone who does the drive would end up there for a night

A friend of mine travelled the Nullabor with two young children in the early 70s before the road was sealed. Quite a journey.

Terrific capture! Love those clouds! I'll definitely have to check out this old highway when I visit Australia. You notice I said "when" . . . I'm determined to visit there. :-)
