We spent another six hours in the grounds of Versailles, but sadly didn’t get into the actual palace. The queue for the palace was horrendous when we arrived so decided to check out the Trianons and Marie-Antoinette’s estate first, in the hope that the queue wouldn’t be as bad by mid afternoon. It was worse and would have taken close to two hours to get through, by which time the palace would have been closing.
@deborah63 I counted 25 tour buses in the parking area when we left and they don’t seem to have to queue. It’s getting to the stage that if you want to see these historic buildings, you’re going to have go in with a tour group and race through.
