Rainbow Lorikeets by merrelyn

Rainbow Lorikeets

The rainbow lorikeets have found our New Zealand Christmas tree. I'm sure that the lorikeets have increased in number this year.
So well camouflaged aren't they, can imagine the ruckus. Nicely presented collage Merrelyn :)

@hermann Thanks Sally, you certainly know when they are in the tree. I can hear them more than see them because the tree is so big and they get into the middle of it :)

@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, ours started a couple of weeks ago. The lorikeets only found it on Sunday :)

@happysnaps Thanks Valerie, they are pretty little birds.

@pusspup They seem to be, but I'm not sure that the willy wagtails nesting in the tree are happy to have them there :)

@gijsje Thanks Bep, they are pretty birds, but not native to Western Australia. Some were released in 1968 and in some areas they have become a pest.

@deborah63 Thanks Debbie. The lorikeet population in our area has definitely increased. Do you have many in Mandurah?

Beautiful action collage. Love the top left and lower right in particular. The bird just doesn't look real to my nyc eyes. Nor does the tree. lol
