We have a friend who is a black cockatoo specialist. Today Graham and I had the privilege of helping him to band and weigh Carnaby's black cockatoo chicks.
These beautiful birds are one of only two species of white tailed black cockatoos on Earth - the other is the Baudin's cockatoo. Both species are endangered and found only in the south west of Western Australia. Populations have more than halved in the last 45 years largely due to loss and fragmentation of habitat.
Graham rarely uses my camera but I wanted a record of this special moment.
