@grizzlysghost - thx Aaron and the lay out is in the shap of a cross. It is an amazingly immense place. There is even a large area beyond and around other side the lighted alter.

Saint Patrick's is beautiful. Do you know anyone on the staff of the Cathedral that can get you on a tour of the sacristy? Choir loft? Get up and inside the cathedral. I used to crawl into the ceiling of Saint James back in the days (14 years) when I sang at the Cathedral. If I got you a connection... would you want to go?? I know people who know people. Let me know! GREAT SHOT! Did you use a wide angle lens?

(What I meant was I sang at Saint James Cathedral for 14 years...)

@eyesofbetsie - Thx Betsie and yes I did use wide angle. You're right in that there are so many hidden/unknown to the public areas inside St Paddys. I do actually know someone with connections there, but he is assisting me to gain access on another shoot. But thank you so kindly for asking and I will go back for an insiders peek :)

@michaelelliott Glad you got a connection. At Saint James (yes, in Seattle), we'd gain access to the choir loft from inside the organ. We'd have to walk through the pipes to get to the north door. Once upon a time, I was an aspiring opera singer. Now, I act for Seattle Opera and I no longer sing... (only to the children - neices and nephews). I have a profound love for classical music. It moves one in ways where there are no words. Especially when I was singing at the Cathedral... Ritual, text, music, phrasing... there were times when all I could do was cry. x Betsie

Such a gorgeous shot, Michael. Maybe it is because I was raised in the Catholic Church or just that they are so beautiful. I love your photos like this. The detail you capture is so amazing. I hope to find a church in our area some day that is open and take a photo or many photos inside and see how I do. FAV
