Broadway into Times Square - NYC

We're on the verge of New Year's Eve in NYC - what did you think I'd post! I took this shot from a conference room window at my office. (I'm on vaca but snuck in to get this pic and out before anyone could give me work - haha). An expected crowd of one million people will fill the streets in this area. Security is extremely tight and once you're in your spot - you're penned in with no food or water or bathroom for like 12 hours or more. But people have loved gathering here on New Year's Eve for over 100 years to watch the Ball drop (be lowered) from a top One Times Square and go crazy!. I hear Lady Gaga is flipping the switch tomorrow. For a street level view please see my pic posted today on

Wishing all my friends in 365 land a Happy & Healthy New Year!!!!

Great perspective of the street Michael. Hard to comprehend one million people, we don't even have that many people in our entire city and suburbs!!!

Oh WOW! Fantastic POV, Michael! Love the tiny people and automobiles! Great colors in the signs, too! Well done! LOL! What a crowd it will be! I'd rather watch it on my TV if I wasn't going out!

As the greatest ambassador from New York since, probably, Henry Hudson... you should throw the switch!!!

@hown - haha Howard you come up with the best lines man! And guess what Mayor Bloomberg Office will probably be seeing my NYC pics. A well connected NYC political consulting and lobbying firm wants to use my NYC pics in its monthly newsletter starting Jan. Details to be worked out but hey who knows - how funny is that!

Sounds like a neat experience. I am afraid I have passed the time in my life where I could go 12 hours without a bathroom though! Happy New Year, Michael!

This is an amazing photo of this famous area & fantastic that you have caught the actual words Times Square in the photo too ! Am surprised as it looks quite narrow & not a big square like you imagine !! How exciting for you re your NY photos ... I hope you become very famous & we can all say ''we knew him when he was just starting out '' !!!! Happy New Year Michael !

@happypat -- Thank you Pat very much and Happy New Year to you too!! Times Square is not a square at all - its where Broadway and 7th Ave cross-cross and those are long avenues lined with tall buildings so it creates a canyon like effect. But in the cross-cross area it is a some what large area. Perhaps in olden days it may have been a square.

@melissapike - that must have been great. I hate being trapped in a crowd. Even the Yankees world series parades I'd find someone with an office to watch from above.
