Hungry Hummingbirds

65 / 365
After a very blustery evening (with a few late night checks on the nest) I was so happy to see these two this morning! The tiny nest didn't budge! Mama has let me hang out with them a bit (sometimes watching from another tree) and seems to know that I'm not there to harm them. One of them keeps an eye on me when I'm there while the other is a sleepy little bird!

They've grown a bit over the past couple days (see picture from the 6th and yesterday's photo in my other album) and their feathers are coming in. I'm looking forward to seeing when they start getting some color.

I'll continue to update this week :)

I am so excited to see this. I have a ton of Humming Birds that feed at my house in the summer, but I have never seen an actual nest! Thank you so much for sharing, and I will look forward to your updates!!

Look how cool the nest is! And look at their little faces. You must be having fun with this. :)

This is so cool. Wonderful that you have a good vantage point in which to view them so that mama doesn't feel threatened by you. I look forward to seeing updates as they progress into looking like real hummingbirds, because they sure don't look like them now.

How fun it must be to have these guys in your yard! I wouldn't be able to get ANY of my school work done if they lived that close to me!! My photos are all from a park/nature reserve that I visit!! They have so many nests!! I saw probably 3 nests yesterday and got to watch a hummingbird start to build a nest!! So wonderful!!
