I'd feel a sense of accomplishment too if I managed to get this close to the shy egret. They're quick to take off, aren't they. Love that long neck and those dark legs.
Yes, my little parrot Kelly is a riot to interact with. While she tends to be quiet when others are around, she's a chatterbox when it's just her and me hanging out. The funny thing is she says things she hears my husband say, even talking in a rather deep voice, something that sounds odd coming from a bird. She's not overly animated like some parrots I've been around but ever once in awhile she breaks out in a crazy dance or suddenly flips herself upside down on a perch and makes silly monkey-like sounds. Where she learned that from, I have no idea. Maybe she picked that up from my husband too! Haha.
