I was amazed at how long this hawk stayed in a reasonable height tree (as opposed to the top of the utility poles) so I could get this shot and several more of him. The skies were that cloudless white but left them alone this time.
He's in a Sweet Gum tree!! We have several on our land and they make the best shade trees but those gum balls drive me nuts!! They look awsome with the Hawk though! How lucky to find him and capture his beauty! I would have been estatic!!! FAV!!!!
@cashew I know this is the best hawk shot I've ever gotten - couldn't believe there wasn't a limb in front of his face. Know what you mean about those gum balls - they're always turning my ankle if I don't pay attention to where I walk. (and I rarely do.)
Great shot and I like the position of his head....The tree features funny little balls they look like mines to me, isn't that funny? Hopefully they don't go boom....
Their eyes are so penetrating! And that beak — Yikes! What bold patterns and colors his feathers have. Those seed pods look like leftover Christmas decorations!
