A short 1/2 mile hike brings you to these bluffs known well to rock climbers in the area - but to few others. This area is called Sam's Throne and has a wonderful rock shelf/bluff overlooking a beautiful valley. The colors this year aren't as rich as past years, but the view is awesome!
Sam's Throne...perfect name for this area with the majestic view. I don't often see colorful trees photographed from above. They look quite beautiful! I would never have guessed that Arkansas had Fall scenes like this. Each day, I learn something on 365!
@janetb This part of Arkansas is in the Ozark Mountains - which extend into Missouri - and really is quite beautiful. Quite different from the southern and eastern parts of the state.

@skstein No, actually it's about 75 feet left of where I was standing and straight across the wide open space - atop a big hill a little higher than the rocks where I was. Story goes that a man named Sam use to preach from atop that point - don't imagine he had many listeners. Will try to post a picture of that point.
