Nature's Black and White

Nicer on black. Drove up early this morning to Mt. Magazine hoping there would still be some ice left - this was it! It was actually 7 degrees warmer on the top of the mountain than in the town below - first time I'd ever seen that. This pretty bluff was a long zoom away :)
Cool capture. Yeah, that's surprising that it would be warmer at the higher altitude.

@rickster549 that totally puzzled me. I thought as I started at the bottom and it was showing 29 degrees that it would be nice and frosty up there. It's usually a minimum of 5-7 degrees cooler on top which would have been perfect. Instead, it was 36. There's something weird there.

I was shooting ice yesterday too but I only had to step outside my door. Yours is thicker.

Interesting. I often found when I have gone to the mountains with hubby and the Teenager skiing, they are around 10 degrees warmer on the mountain top than I am in the valley. Lovely shot, frozen water in motion is endlessly fascinating.

Oh my. This is amazing! Your Mt. Magazine is a photographer’s delight, especially in your capable hands. It was 60 here at 5:00 AM, so I think our two days of winter will be it for this year.

The icicles form some nice bold lines. What surprises me is that you probably have more wintery weather right now than we do!
