My First! by milaniet

My First!

I've heard one several times, and seen him flying away, but this is the first time I was able to get a shot of a kingfisher. Was driving over at the Corps Park and passed the boat ramp - noticed a bird sitting on the lone stem but couldn't tell what it was. Lowered the window and took 2 shots - then tried to open the far door - off he flew!
Fan-freaking-tastic shot!

Congrats on your first kingfisher photo. They are big and loud and visible, but once you get within good photo range, they usually take off.
January 31st, 2021
Awesome capture. Glad you could get the shot. Like Anne said, they usually don't sit there that long, especially if there is someone around.
January 31st, 2021
@annepann You're sure right about them being loud - until yesterday, that was the only way I could locate any - but always too far away. Got my mittens today!! Can't wait for some walking weather (without rain) so I can wear them. They feel great - and how sweet you were to include the fingerless ones, too. I really really appreciate you, Anne.

Fabulous shot and focus.

@milaniet So glad you like them. One good thing about wool is that it repels water naturally, so the mittens would probably work in a light rain. If you care to leave a review of the mittens on etsy, that would be appreciated.

Great capture. Congratulations.
