For a big bird, the Blue Jay sure has to work hard to get his dinner. He'll take a seed at a time and work to crack it open between his feet. Sometimes he'll collect three or four and fly to the tree - he'll stash them in this slit and work them one at a time. Fun to watch.
That's super close. Mine are very shy 😜 leave them some egg shells. They eat those too, and mine will take a whole egg shell and fly to a tree with it.
@rickster549 They are one of the more difficult birds for me to capture, too. This new platform feeder (amazon.com) is really helping - after several weeks, they're getting quite comfortable there and in the tree behind it and I can shoot from the kitchen window without disturbing them.
Fantastic action shot Milanie isn't it fun watching the birds and their behavior? The little blue feathers that fan over the dark blue ones are very soft looking. Your focus is exceptional as always you even caught the light in his eye! A big FAV!
