The Empty Chair

"O for the touch of a vanished hand,
And the sound of a voice that is still!"

Lord Alfred Tennyson - Break Break Break

So beautiful & you brought tears to my eyes Miriam..

The only photos my dear Mother had on the wall of her room in the retirement home she lived in were of her wedding - Mother & Dad together on the wall.. A fav for me

Thanks everyone for your great comments. Am staying at a friend's place & she was kind enough to let me photograph this. It's a photo of her Mom who is long gone & the antique sewing machine belonged to her.

I got goosebumps all over... I remember my mom's sewing machine. We keep it in one corner of her bedroom just like this and we put a mantel cover on top too. She passed away in 2008.

Very beautiful composition, Mirriam. It's full of LOVE.

wow. this is a very powerful image...

my lola has an old sewing machine like that. this september she turned 101. recently she has gotten the urge to take a sentimental journey to the places of her childhood and we suspect that she is preparing to say goodbye. it might not be long until her chair is empty..
