One of my Favourite days of the year, is Cape Argus Cycle Tour Day. Not because I'm a fitness fanatic and want to ride alongside the 35 000 other entrants, in the worlds largest timed cycle event, but because many of the roads in Cape Town are closed. Including the one at the end of ours. That means we are basically house bound. No pressure, just a day for chilling out. All the neighbours walk to the end of the street, catch up on any news, and cheer on the cyclists who have already ridden about 80 or 90km. They still face the gruelling Chapmans peak around the corner, and Suikerbossie before the finish line! Many people dress up (see http://365project.org/steeler/365/2012-03-11 from @steeler 's album) other's take it quite seriously ( see http://365project.org/thebluegnu/365-2012/2012-03-11 from @thebluegnu 's album)
All in all, it's a fun day for cyclists and spectators alike!
