Cape Town Stadium by momsta

Cape Town Stadium

347 / 365
Cape Town Stadium is one of 9 stadiums built in South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. 8 of the games were played here. I was lucky enough to go to the first of those games. What an atmosphere!!!
It costs the city upwards of R44million a year to run now, but does not bring in nearly enough revenue to cover this. There is much controversy as to what will become of this beautiful piece of architecture.

Looks like a great location as well. Always a worry that the taxpayers have to pay for these events for years to come.

Awesome architectural lines that you captured and choosing B&W a very clever choice. $44 million for just this stadium?! Ouch!

I like your composition, the fact that you've included the sea really makes this for me!

My husband watch the making of this fantastic stadium in a TV show called Mega Structures. he was very impressed. too bad that it can't pay for itself. you're talking a lot of money here.
great picture Michelle.

Great shot of a sculptural structure - it is so sad when the glamour of the moment outweighs the community's long term needs
