We hiked today the gorge of the Tamina. A very interesting place, where the Tamina river forms a deep and narrow gorge called the Taminaschlucht, where only at mid-day some sunrays can penetrate. Around the year 1240 the thermal spring with constant water temperature of 36.5° Celsius in the Taminaschlucht was discovered. The famous natural scientist, physician and philosopher Paracelsus, who is regarded as the first spa, worked there in 1535. At this time the sick people who bathed in the curative water were let down the 70 meters in the narrow gorge in large baskets on ropes. In the year 1630 a bath house was constructed at the mouth of the gorge, and people no longer had to endure the difficult procedure of letting them down into the fearsome gorge.
Today we had heavy rain, so no sunrays and for me a very difficult location to photograph because of constant spray and high humidity due to the thermal spring.
It takes a bit of time to focus on exactly what is here and getting it in proportion is so good! How amazing this spa is and so old! Your camera settings are just right for this shot!
Beautiful! Reminded me of a hike through a similar gorge near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria. Quite and experience, and a lot of wet things. This is a beautiful image, and the lack of light reflects the atmosphere beautifully.
