2015-06-22 what a pity

For over a week it had been fairly cloudy, rainy and gray, and we had an extreme temperature drop. What a pity that we had to cancel a mountain excursion with a dear friend from Italy, due to the weather conditions and snowfall. (Should have been his birthday gift!). Yesterday he had to leave again. But worst of all is that today we are woken up with these weather conditions and this view. Perfect, for going to work. :-(
@terryliv Maybe I can at least make you happy Terry.

I was sitting here looking at the shot and thinking how beautiful they were and then scrolled down a bit and saw your comment. Ha Ha ha Yes it did make me very happy. But isn't it always the way that the weather is perfect on the day you can't take advantage of it?

We did a trip to Canada and Alaska last year and one of the highlights of the tour we chose was a flight up to a village in Alaska that was above the arctic circle. Arrived in Fairbanks Alaska and the weather was good. Next morning when we were supposed to take the flight it was crap and the flights were all cancelled and we never got to go. The following day the weather was fine again but we were flying back home to Oz. We'll never get that opportunity again.

perfect for going to work. That's how I'm feeling about the humid heat: at work there is air conditioning.

@terryliv Thanks for sharing your story. Yes, they do exist, these opportunities that are missed forever, because it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. But I think we are whining at a high level, because as we have the privilege and being able to travel, we have also many of these once in a lifetime experiences on the positive side. I was lucky enough to have flown over the Denali, long ago. But we did not reach the arctic circle by truck camper because we had to turn around due a huge bush fire.

Too bad you had to cancel the mountain excursion, but at least you caught this awesome view!

Gorgeous shot, magnificent light, fav. Sometimes weather just doesn't cooperate with your plans, but I hope your friend still had a great visit with you and enjoyed his birthday.

Beautiful shot and I am so sorry for you and your friend for the missed experience.

@mona65 Yes we are whining at a high level. There are billions of people who would love to be able to whine about such things. Still pisses me off though :-)
