I’m amazed and inspired by other 365ers creativity within composite photography, and wanted to give it a go since quite some time. Today I got around to “play” a bit with PSE. Well I’m far away, from what I wanted, but I had fun and learned a lot. This genre is for sure not what I will do often, but I think you can grow only, if trying out new things every other day.
This is a fantasy composite of 3 images, all taken by me over a very long timeframe!
- Venice Scene: taken January 2018, when I had the pleasure to meet up with Caterina @caterina. Canale Grande with the monumental sculpture of artist Lorenzo Quinn. Titled “Support”. The art piece depicts a pair of gigantic hands rising from the water to support the sides of the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, a visual statement of the impact of climate change and rising sea levels on the historic city.
- Whale (Humpback “Megaptera novaeangliae” upper left): Newfoundland, June 2014
- Whale (Humpback “Megaptera novaeangliae“ lower right): Island, June 2007
There are a variety of whale threats and most of which is the direct result of human activities. So "support" refers also to the marine mammals.
I love this -- it's very funny at one level and fantastical, but with the rising seas, also could serve as a comment on climate changing and Venice's sinking issues. Lovely work!
it's quite amazing, mona! i've been giving this a go recently and can certainly waste a lot of time faffing about. this is so expertly done, i can't believe you haven't been doing it for years :) i really like the range of rioting imagination - very striking
This is fantastic (in more than one sense)! You are so good in inventing new photographic projects. And I’m glad to see a memory of our beautiful days together. Fav
