no need to comment. This is a terrible bad and noisy shot, but it is so unusual, I have to integrate it in the project just for my records.
I hit the 1000km mark today with my new bike, and was gifted with this view. 5 Alpine chamois crossed my bike trail and 3 stood still for a moment, so I could take my camera out and have them on the chip. It is extremely rare to see a chamois, in my outdoor playground, near my home.
The Alpine chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) is a species of goat-antelope native to the Alpes.
They live at moderately high altitudes and are adapted to living in precipitous, rugged, rocky terrain. They can be found at elevations up to at least 3,600 m (11,800 ft). The chamois spend their summers above the tree line in meadows. When winter rolls around, they go to lower elevations, of around 800 m (2,600 ft), to live in forests. This is at an elevation of about 700m and actually very near my home. I can only guess that as we had such an extremely dry summer and autumn, they came down because they needed water or juice grass and leaves. Or winter is around the corner???
