Jumping spider's belly by monicac

Jumping spider's belly

This is a female jumping spider (I seem to be sharing my balcony with a couple/family of them). I wanted to photograph her from the top, so as to show how her markings are different from the male's, but I hadn't counted on their different personalities. The male was shy, and played dead as soon as he found himself imprisoned. The female, on the other hand, was totally unafraid, and very interested in exploring her surroundings -the glass- making it harder to take a focused picture. I didn't want to keep her captive for too long, so I decided her belly could also make an interesting subject, quite appropriate to the "perspective" theme. It's not often you a spider photographed form below.
Fun fact: spiders lick their "fingers" and "toes"
great pov!
