This statue is dedicated to Dr. Gómez Ferrer. He was a paediatrician, specialised in polio. Famously, he offered the same treatment to both rich and poor children -rich parents knew he would charge them a little more than other doctors, so that he could also treat poor kids, and accepted it because he was such a good doctor. Mums of children he had cured raised the money for his monument, which is placed in a park, next to the playing area.
