War graves Spanish flu

Facing towards the morning light. I went to see local war graves this morning, these service men fought in the first WW and were on route home when they contracted spanish flu, 415 died in this tiny village where generations of my family lived. My grandfathers earliest memories were at three years old soldiers marching to war in 1914.
Lovely and very touching!

Nearly all the deaths of this pandemic affected the young under forty mainly in the twenties and thirty’s stark contrast to today’s pandemic.
Fascinating........
