Guava picking by moya

Guava picking

We went guava picking this afternoon - they are called "chinese guavas" and are one of the most well known fruits in Mauritius. They grow wild mainly in the upper humid areas of the island. Guava picking is literally a tradition here and you see lots of people on weekends with their bags in hand, struggling through the entangling trees and slipping on the mud.
I love the B&W with the pop of red!

I love that description! I think we call this "Strawberry Guava" here in S California. As a child in Hawaii, I remember well my delight in finding a guava tree on a hillside! I've been able to grow them now in my yard here!

@Weezilou Hi Louise - I hope that my daughters will also one day have sweet memories of their carefree guava picking times and living on a tropical island
