This is a flood marker; a very original one which is at the Powerhouse Museum. Where the tops of the letters 'F', 'L' and 'D' are is where the Brisbane River rose to in 1974. Seeing those letters are about 5ft tall; and then you have to add on the additional height of what the river rose... well, it was very bad flood.
There are other markers around the parks along the banks of the Brisbane River to show where the water rose to; to remind us of how bad it was and how bad it can get. I took this shot on Sunday afternoon while I was running around Brisbane being a tourist in my own city.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
