A couple of weeks ago, I bought a few vinyls from Rockaway. However, when it came time to play them, I found the stylus on my turntable had worn out; and after 7 years of constant use on the weekends and some afternoons during the week, it's little wonder!
So last Wednesday, I found the manual and model number for this thing and ordered in a new stylus for my Sony Turntable. Yesterday, it arrived; and today, I went out and picked it up for $55! How cool is that?
I had some small problems getting it onto the arm, but once it was on, it played like a dream! :D
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
@digitalrn I've been to a few people's houses where they've got turntables, but when I look closer, the stylus has been removed. When I asked if they've ordered a new one, they say: 'Oh... that, nah, the company doesn't make them anymore.' or something like that. They don't think that other companies make the same style of stylus'... kinda feel sorry for them.
And it's the main reason why I bought a Sony; they always have replacement parts for their equipment. ;)
@digitalrn@loey5150 Thank you guys. I do love my turntable; and wish to care for it as much as I can. I'm happy that the parts for the one I bought - Sony - aren't as expensive as first thought. At least they don't wear out as fast as most parts on things on modern-day items, right? :)
I have found that I have needed to file back the housing of this stylus a little on the outside. This is because as it settled on the my vinyls, it began to drag on them - scratching them - so out came the nail file and I pulled it off and filed it back by about 2mm on either side... then when I clipped it back into place, it worked better and the needle was sitting better on the vinyl.
