Venus Transit

Yesterday, the sun and Venus made history. Venus passed between Earth and the Sun during the day and Australia was the best vantage point to see it... but instead of destroying my eyesight, I opted to watch it from the safety of my computer screen and live upload from the UQ site; how cool is this?

The purple is a different filter they used to make it look different; whereas the orange filter was to cut out the UV rays that usually interfere with viewing the Sun so it can be seen safely.

The next time this event will occur is in 2117.
It was cloudy here in Finland, so no chance for destroying one's eyesight.

I cannot believe I missed all the hype on this event. That goes to show that life is too busy. The whole thing is interesting

@annelis @digitalrn thank you both for your lovely comments. You never know, we might yet see it again - in our next lives - when Venus passes across the sun in 2117. :D
