Yesterday, I did my sponsored event of the World's Greatest Shave at NVS Hair Styles and Designs at Redcliffe.
It was a quiet affair and when I arrived, they had set up the event outside the store... very cool. I decided to go with green for today, and asked for a Shamrock, but they weren't given one. Bummer! So, the girl put green and pink through my hair and we posed together. She shaved and I coloured...
Half the shopping complex had shop assistants and people who had coloured their hair. I wonder how much money they've raised for the Leukaemia Foundation?
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
That is a great idea, and you look a bit Irish there Lynda. They had a similar even there yesterday , shaving the heads of kids for Kids Cancer Research
@bkbinthecity@melissapike@digitalrn Thank you all for your lovely comments. The chick who did my hair was very cool; she's the one who posed in one of the photos with me... and she's amazed we've had so many people who have had cancer in my family. I had a Melanoma when I was 22 1/2 in 1996, my Nan had stomach cancer and passed away from it, my Uncle Allan passed away from Prostate Cancer last April, Mum was in hospital for a time to have a lung cancer removed last year in September, and not long after, we lost a close family friend to Prostate Cancer.... it touches our lives in so many ways. I have found doing this fund-raising activity not only fun, but also a great way to get the Cancer Foundation and Leukaemia Foundation more money they badly need.
