Revelations

166 / 365
My eyes first observed the sun faded yellow round barn. I looked at the structure standing on the abandoned farm. The barn was still in use as an old tractor containing hay was parked inside the opened barn door with a no trespassing sign displayed. Yeah, I could read the sign, but I still looked and walked on the land. I wanted to see what else was here because I’ve never seen a yellow round barn. Behind the overgrown brush was an old abandoned farm house had been boarded shut and blocked from view. Other small uninhabited outbuildings were scattered about the property. This was once a thriving working farm. Someone lived here. Maybe even a family. Now the farm was deserted, dismal, and unwelcoming. No trespassing.

I continued to walk the land around the yellow round barn. I stumbled upon a wooden window without glass that offered no reflection. For once I discovered no revelations, no realization about life, but I did find an opened broken window.

Photography reveals what is hidden.

I agree with Sherry but I really like this shot and the touches of yellow. Maybe a lady owned this farm...... a man would have painted the barn red probably. LOL great catch. Once you get on the land past the No Trespassing sign and look at the back of the sign you will probably find that the back of it doesn't say anything!!!!! There is a verse about that in the old Woody Guthrie folk song, "This Land is Your Land"

This is lovely :) Sounds like a nice little walk :)

It sounds like it was once a very busy place according to your description, and perhaps the family members feel bad knowing that it has gone by the wayside. It's left totally open for assumption, and no real answers, often applicable to life.

Beautiful capture, the texture of the old wood and the peeling paint. Your eloquent description adds a most emotive dimension. Fav

That's how I feel when I'm looking at some of the barns around here. Only half the story is told by its current condition. And there are so many questions that can't be answered. A favorite shot along with the commentary too.

Looks like this old fella could use a coat of paint, but then it would ruin the look

Echoing Sherry and Karenann. You really need to write a book! What talent you have....I've said it many times. Giving you a fav on this photo, too....fabulous!
