Fishing fever

The ice fishing huts out on the lake are starting to slowly accumulate now. In a couple of weeks there will be whole village out there. Although concentrated in a couple of main areas, they are generally so spread out that it is hard to get a photo of them that does them justice. In any single photo, all you get is a small taste of what's out there. In a couple of weeks I might try again for a comparison photo.
With a long lens and the "proper" spot, you can't compress them? Would be fun to try.

@byrdlip Sounds reasonable, but there's no angle from which you can get them all lined up. You'd never see more than a small sample.

You might try a panorama, but use portrait for each photo to avoid a narrow strip final presentation. Do people stay there at the night?

@yaorenliu Interesting idea. I might try that. Generally, people park their shack out there and leave it for the whole winter, for as long as there is good ice. But they are only in it when they are fishing. For some that is after work every day, and for others maybe only a couple of hours on the weekend. Most people do not sleep in them, though some of them have bunks beds.

With all the chimneys showing, at least they can stay a bit warmer

You're right on about the community feeling - imagine they get to be pretty good neighbors by the end of the winter. Like the variety of colors.

Cool shot. I live far enough south to never trust frozen water...that truck gives me anxiety!!

I think camping on frozen water would be quite scary

A portrait pano would be a a good idea I think. Like @yaorenliu mentioned. I like how colourful they are.

What a great shot that tells a story -- I can feel the anticipation of the truck's driver, heading towards the fishing huts
