A Winter Dawn by mwerner

A Winter Dawn

It was -36C during my commute in to work this morning, but it immediately seemed warmer out as the sun came up and revealed this glowing sky.
Beautiful image. I think that our 37C day would have been a lot more comfortable than your -36C :)

Beautiful colours :)

The nice thing about -36C is that it is almost the same as -36F, so everyone can understand how cold it is. It also makes me feel better about the +2F (-17C) that I woke up to this morning.

Oh i love the sunrise colours!
Did you actually get out of your car to take this.............or did you get your window down??

@radiogirl I got out of and well clear of the car. I never take photos in the winter from inside the car with the window rolled down. The exchange of heated air from inside the vehicle with the cold outside air creates a very pronounced shimmer effect, which you can easily see with the naked eye, but only if you're looking for it. The camera, however, will always see it, and it will yield a very muddy, very unsharp image now matter how well focused you are.

The colors are beautiful and yet I still feel the chill in the air! I loved your haiku comment on my buried leaf. Yes, it could be nature's form of poetry indeed!

stunning colors, did you have to wait for your lens to defog?

@teriyakih Thanks. Lenses don't fog when going out into the cold, just when coming back in to warm air after being out in the cold.
