Beauty in wood. by mwerner

Beauty in wood.

A table top still life image today. This is a custom hand-crafted piece made from a Box Elder burl. I love the textures and patterns in the twisted and knotted wood grain.

This shot lit with a single camera-mounted flash with a double thickness of kleenex wrapped over the flash to soften the light and cut the intensity a little. I love the way the softening of the light brought out the rich earthy tones of the wood.
A beautiful capture of these wonderful patterns and tones.

This is really an interesting piece - love the details you were able to bring out with your lighting without overpowering it. Definitely a unique find.

Most unusual grain and burr patterns on the wood, a lovely piece and well captured in gently subdued lighting.
