I can't help it. I really like looking for them even though, each time I go to the park or mangrove forest, it's a matter of luck whether I find them or not. Even though I think I'm spending way too much time outdoors in the sun and heat and humidity. I have a gorgeous tan on my face and arms but I'm 3 shades lighter everywhere else. Ack.
Unseemly whining aside, this is a day flying moth! It's also called a tiger moth. This one was quite small with a body at about 1cm (0.3in). It's a common moth. Because it's diurnal (which means it's active during the day), I see it often. I like the orange-and-black pattern on its body and wings. I think they are beautiful colors. 8)
Lovely! Fav! I get "photographer's tan" (or burn) at times from having my arms bent holding the camera....later you extend your arm and the area near the elbows is pale. Haha
It is beautiful, Livia! Lovely colors and details. It's a very striking moth! Great capture and I like your bug shots! They're crisp and very clear and you always provide some interesting facts about them! Bring 'em on, gal!
He's gorgeous ...the dof and the clarity of his body is awesome. I can appreciate your beautiful work here, because I've tried to capture moths and butterflies so many times this summer and never caught one this perfect. Not even close. We have something in commen, my friend. I don't like shooting out in the heat and humidity either (and I whine ALOT about that) ... and have become tan in the same places as you. But one has to do what it takes ... your results are perfection!!
Wow, awesome and breathtaking beautiful capture, a fav.
Talking about being patiently, 4000 pieces I even don`t start to try it .
I don`t think I`m but I can concentrate / focus myself on just the part I`m working on. I always say a long time living is a great help
Lovely capture. I had one of these land on the front wall next to where I was sitting once. They are very beautiful in colouring. I posted a shot of mine at http://365project.org/girlie/365/2012-03-09; I believe they are the same, so they must have a very big range.
The moth is beautiful, the capture is perfect in every way. You do these little creatures proud. A reference book of your bug shots could be a valuable field guide.
A great, big, bright and colorful "THANK YOU!" to everyone for taking the time out of your busy schedule to stop by! I am grateful for your constant support and encouragement. You keep me going! I must, I must finish this project! (Such a long way yet.)
Gorgeous clear shot of this beautiful moth. And you should worry, we have rain all the time plus I spent a week on holiday and it rained almost every day then too :o) xx
Very pretty! Great shot of a very interesting moth. He looks like he's got little socks on. :)
You are doing great with this project Livia, almost 2/3 of the way through already! Hang in there, you can do it. Your pics are awesome. I very much look forward to your photos every day, even if I can't comment on all of them. You are one of my favouritest 365ers! :)
A very handsome moth indeed - beautifully captured - colours are gorgeous - these macro shots are brilliant - be great to see them altogether in a book.
Hey ladies didn't know photography and tanning go hand in hand...but true..I just get more freckles. the tiger moth is so beautiful..love its pattern. fav. @espyetta
Really like this compsition. The detail on the moth is incredible, but what makes this shot for me is the two diagonal stems. They just bring it all together so nicely. Fav and follow!
Wow...beautiful. Amazing color, texture and patterns. I've always wondered why certain creatures became colored the way they are. I understand, most times it for survival, camouflage. But take the tiger or this butterfly. There is nothing that orange and patterned that way for it to camouflage with. Such a sublime world we live in.
Wow! Lovely creature, actually, and a fantastic photo ... even with your non-Canon/non-Nikon Sony! You're the only one with the "I whine too much" tag. I probably have many posts that *ought* to have that tag, but I'll keep it in mind now! Tiger moth: awesome post!

Again, thank you so much.
