@northy I was trying to keep what you taught in mind with this one. I'm always so impressed with your b&w motion shots - trying to keep some in focus and some blurred. This hasn't reached your level of goodness with those shots, but I will keep trying.
@myhrhelper Girl! I tried to shoot a skate park scene quite a while ago and it was an epic fail! this is really nice with the focused and blurred subjects! I really like it in B&W.
this is a really cool location for motion blur shots... all that activity comes across so nicely!
i've been trying to think thru what i think makes a motion blur shot work... there are different kinds, but for a streety scene like this one, i think it's that you might want to choose a primary subject who will be the focal point of your shot who is standing (or sitting, whatever) still... with all the activity in blur around them... so a wide-eyed child watching the teenagers do tricks... or a couple of teenage girls or a mom... and then compose the picture so your eye is drawn to the watcher, and the story is about him or her... know what i mean?
@northy Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. This scene has a lot of activity but what would have been better is to actually have a clear focal point which could tell a clearer story, or strike an emotional response rather than just a scene. I will keep that in mind. I make be able to go back to this site in the future and if I have that chance or even another with lots of activity I will see if I can find a focus.
