Trying to find the sweet spot - any comments is always welcome on what you would do different.

I think this might be your sweet spot, based on the two images you asked me to look at. This one definitely has more depth and its sharp in the foreground and sharp in the background. Without looking at your histogram, it looks like you probably have a good curve going on in this shot. With this one, I feel like I am there. Great job!
