Monarch Surgery by mzzhope

Monarch Surgery

One of my Monarch chrysalids fell in its enclosure. There was no damage, but the chrysalis must hang for the butterfly to freely emerge.Monarchs caterpillars weave a silk button into which they hook the cremaster ( the black stalk) So when it fell ( guess the silk button weakened somehow)I had to tie dental floss around the cremaster ( the black stalk) then pin the floss to the top of the enclosure .The procedure was a success.:)
Excellent Hope! Thanks for that great image and the explanation!
