Faded Glory

“The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.”
-Rabindranath Tagore

We saw this worn lady at Pennings Farm today. She was the first I have seen this season. My friend bought me two new milkweed plants that had two eggs and a caterpillar on them. I finally get to rear some Monarchs!
She may be worn, but is still quite the beauty - well captured.

We are in the middle of expanding our flower bed and adding plants to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. We want to get some milkweed but our yard may be too sunny.

In spite of how worn she is this photo is terrific. I know you are so excited to get a chance to raise your own!

It is so unusual the way their color fades as the season progresses. Nice clear shot.

She is still rather lovely, a bit less vivid but still beautiful. How fun to get some a milkweed with eggs and a caterpillar - good luck.
