What a great macro. We love to listen to these creatures on warm summer nights. Friends and family who have moved away say it's not summer without this sound.
Great shot. I can remember the 1st time I saw one. We were on holiday in Spain and their noise was a feature of our days. They were much larger than I would have anticipated.
@ishutter@ceilidh I must admit ,when he made that sound while I was holding him I jumped!Its loud when it is right in ear shot!But it also let me know that he would be ok.:) I too,love their summer calls.
Great details on this insect macro! This one looks so different from the ones that cycle through Ohio (every 7 years, I think). They have blue wings that shine and red eyes. They ARE fascinating to look at and you've given us an incredible image to examine--Wonderful shot!
