Those aren't wasps, they are Conopid flies, commonly known as thick-headed flies. They are parasitoids of stinging wasps and bees, they capture hosts in mid air and insert their eggs between the abdominal segments of the host. They feed on flower nectar, the long mouthparts and mimicry of wasp and bee species provides some protection from predators like birds and lizards.
