I am always filled with wonder when I see something for the first time.While photographing an ant colony in an old tree stump I came across this creature.At first I thought it was a large ant..but it turns out to be a fly. An ant mimic called a Stlit Legged Fly. He waves his front legs to mimic the antennae of an ant.Little is known about them other than that they are gentle and harmless creatures.I find them to be so alien and beautiful!
"Alien" is a good word choice in describing this very interesting (and new to me) insect. Thanks for sharing some details about what it is and how it behaves.
