For my Get Pushed Challenge this week..which was to do some type of set-up shot with something simple and think about the light. Well this was a locket that was given to someone today and I borrowed it for a few minutes :) and hung it on an interior sign. It was all natural sunlight coming in and I thought the shadows and tones complimented each other.
oooh! very nicely done... i like the hint of glint where the sun is bouncing off the chain and jewel :)
i'm curious about your settings... why ISO 800 and shutter speed of 1/640? i probably would have aimed for ISO 100 or 200 and been happy to get 1/100 or 1/80 for shutter speed...
@northy Thanks...well if you look at probably 98% of my shots here the ISO is 800...why? because I think it gives a richer tone to the colors especially when they are processed...I use ISO 100 but generally I don't like it ?? sometimes...but it seems like too much light even with a high shutter speed for me..I also shoot at least 1 under exposed..is that weird? I guess I like the with a darker tone.. I use an ISO of 200 and get the shutter speed slower tomorrow and see...part of the challenge. :) have a good night...
interesting about the richer tone at that level of ISO... i never thought of experimenting with ISO for that purpose... i'll have to have a play around with that one of these days!
i don't think shooting -1 is weird - but then, i often play around with exposure to get the darker tones, so maybe both of us are taking the weird route in that regard ;p
Yes you´re right, very nice interaction with the light and shadows.
Richer tones, intriguing I must try....I only use high ISO when light and other options are not available...it does bring details out of shadows better that just can be done with shutter spead....
